Today I had a opportunity to make some purchases at a coin shop that is closing down. To bring my items up to a round number I was offered a small bag of coins from Canada, I am in northwest Florida. The bag cost me $13.xx.
I was thinking I could send the coins back up north when my snowbird friends come down from Michigan this winter. But after seeing some of the coins I am not sure if they might be worth keeping. I just got done sorting them, here is my list.
1 - 1996 $2.00, 1 - 1989 $1.00 (loon) 1 - 1984 $1.00 (Jacques Cartier) 5 - 1970 $1.00 ( Manitoba) 20 - 1970 half dollar coins 10 - 1999 quarters ( in 2X2, they have different months on each coins Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,May,Jul,Aug,2-Oct,Dec) Are these proofs if they have the month on them? 11 - Caribou quarters 21 - Dimes oldest are 6 - 1968's. Newest is a 2001 year of volunteer 61 - Nickels. Some are in 2X2's and in VF to UNC shape are 1922,24,28,40,41,43(Tombac), also a nice 1937. 305 - one cent coins. 1896, 2-1920,1930,1932,1933. multiple coins from most of the years 1940 - 1994
Total face value $31.80. I am hoping some Canadian coin experts could give me opinions, if any of these are worth keeping.

In the same purchase I picked up a 2011 World coin price guide, are those prices considered high or low?
The nickels I list as in 2x2's, the 1943 is the lowest grade, in VF range. The 22,24,28,40 and 41 are more AU/UNC. One of the nickel that was in good shape, was one listed with a dot, is that dot the on after the date?
The 1970 half dollars look like it was a unc roll.
I will check the 84 dollar for die clash.
In the guide, it seemed to be saying that the 1999 quarters were proof if the month was struck on the coin, the 10 I have are in 2x2's and have a proof look, but not frosted like modern US proof coins.
Also there are a few 1955 cents, trying to check for strap on shoulder one of them looks like it could have something there .. have to research more on that.
Thanks for posting .. this bag has been fun going through. I am sure I will keep some of them, but send some the other coins home next spring.
