In various threads about coin searching, I see people comparing how well they do searching Brinks boxes vs String and Son boxes, vs CW rolls.

What I think people don't realize is that they're comparing with .

As a kid, I heard of Brinks. They drove around with money in armored trucks. Other famous armored carriers included Wells Fargo and Pinkertons--"we never sleep". There's a new one that sounds vaguely Spanish.

Other companies supply banks and businesses with equipment and wrappers. The big one used to be http://www.blockandcompany.com/ and now we're hearing more about http://www.nfstring.com/

AFAIK, string & son doesn't handle boxes of coins, they just sell wrappers. That S&S box you got could come from a bank, armored carrier, business or individual who happened to have access to those wrappers.

If you want to pay a bit more, you can have your own name on the wrappers, like Brinks does (cheap advertising). Same goes for zippered and lockable bank bags or canvas drawstring bags.

Here is my Two Cents worth, lol. I either buy Brinks or S&S or once in awhile CW. I have my best luck with S&S then Brinks and lastly CW.

IMO there is no difference in who wrapped them, it's all a matter of random luck....the cents come in, get rolled, then shipped out.

CW seems to be either hot or cold, no middle ground. Nothing beats S&S for the suprises!

My brinks rolls aren't branded (though the boxes are). They're clear shrink-wrap.

I agree 100% with your point. However, I get pretty consistent results from the various differently wrapped coins. I'm sure there's not a lot of places locally that supply to banks so the results are pretty much the same every time I get a box. I sort cents and I get a pretty constant 25% copper out of brinks-boxed plastic wrapped rolls (and a lot of dimes mixed in) and 30-35% out of String rolls (with lots of wheats mixed in). The brinks boxed coins are always filthy too. My hands are black after sorting a box. Strings are nice and clean. Sometimes, you can't even tell I've sorted after a string box.

This is definitely a case of 'your mileage may vary'.

It's all about what's dumped that week.

My first box of S&S wrapped coins had 40 wheats and around 40% copper. My last box had 5 wheats and around 15% copper....but it is very variable.

I'm just glad I haven't gotten any more boxes of 2011 coin!

What I don't understand is when people are talking about buying from a specific "vault".

specific vault at one bank office, as opposed to various branches.
