Although I love 8 reales, I am not quite the expert on edges and authenticity which are a few others on this forum are. But in my opinion the design on the obverse and reverse look a but "mushy" and porous. In essence, the surfaces do not look sharp enough to be read. And the edge design looks kind of weak and questionable....but we will wait for swamperbob to chime in.

In the meantime might you know the weight of this coin?

I don't think it is real.

The area around HISPAN is very odd and the cross on top of the crown is thin and bent.

There are what looks to be lumps or bubbles on the Pillar side: in the field to the left of the pillars, and at the rim after the date.

The five might be low and overall the date is a bit thin.

The edging is too worn or mashed down looking considering the shape the rest of the coin is in.
