Just won this auction at the last second, and was wondering what yall think of it.

I thought it looked neat, so I bid on it.

Thanks :) never owned a toned coin before. I just saw that it wasnt outrageously priced, or over exaggerated in by the seller as MONSTER TONED!, so it appealed to me.

That coin is not fake, Sir. I am not sure with the toning if it is natural or created

It's probably been baked in bread dough at 375-400 degrees, most collectors would consider it AT, but since you got it under melt, so what? Good pick up.

Neither am I. I'm looking up how to tell between Natural and Artificial toned coins. I'm sure someone could tell me though. Hmmm.

Yeah, the cheapness of the coin was why I snatched it up :P

If anyone else wants to give their opinion of the natural vs AT tone of this coin, feel free.

Id love to hear more :)

Yeah--cool one! I think the colors were punched up a little in photoshop.

Artificially Toned coin, but why should it really matter? You spent $3.35 on a coin that you liked, it's 90% silver, has a melt value of $2.87. That value should continue to go up because of the silver. If you had spent $20 on it then it would have been a bad buy. The other thing is that even though we may all say it's artificially toned, don't let us ruin it for you. You saw a nice bright coin and you wanted it, you won it and now you get to enjoy the colors. At the worst, you lost 48 cents.

For $3.35, I would have thought about buying this coin.

As for the question of how we can tell it's AT, Naturally Toned coins should always follow a sequence of colors starting with yellow, then magenta and then cyan. The colors should look as if they are set into the metal. Natural toning should NOT cover scratches and other damage marks.

The giveaway for AT coins is the bright colors that float on the surface of the coin. You shouldn't see overly vivid blue, green or orange. I can see some scratches and marks on your coin that have toning, along with the colors that are too bright, this makes me think it's an AT coin.

Psh I didnt lose 48 cents - I can go look on top my washer and dryer and find at least 3 dollars in change right this instant!

Yeah, I too believe that it is AT, but oh well. Its more unique than a regular old 1964 - D Roosevelt, and maybe Ill put it on the end of one of my rolls of silver dimes to enhance the roll ;)

Probably stored in a Whitman folder. They tend to bring blue out in the coins.
