I've tracked down most of the tougher Chinese coins except for the Guizhou automobile coin, Gansu silver coin as well as Chinese silver coins struck under the "idealist soviet" regime. Just missing a few other copper coins but I don't think they will be tough other than the Szechuan-Yunnan 10 cash coin. Some may find this useful to identify what province your Chinese coins are from as well as the date.

Some are really really tough and I don't think I want to make a duplicate of this collection. Needless to say, all coins are genuine except for the Gansu silver coin which I got fooled big time - got to know what you are buying.

I have bookmark your site, as I am fascinated with our culture.
I say you must have taken many years to gather all these coins, and the current market for these are persistently high in demand.

Did you buy from other collectors and or auction houses if I may ask. This area has so many fakes and more.
Great info and showcase.
Thank you.

That's a great site - thanks for that link and congratulations on putting together a fantastic collection. The history section is very well researched and reads perfectly.

Excellent!

Thanks everyone for your comments.

macmercury: I actually started this collection a while ago but took it seriously this year as the prices started to shoot up quite high. I actually bought most of my coins from dealers and from ebay. Thankfully I didn't get stung too bad but I find contempory counterfeits interesting at the same time.

My advice that I can give is to buy catalog books - the books are fortunately very cheap and you should be able to get two books (copper and silver coinage) for about 30 dollars including shipping. At the same time, start off with a reputable seller. Bob Reis is a good seller and offers decently priced copper coins. http://anythinganywhere.com/ Silver is going to be pretty interesting. If you stick to common coins such as small denomination coins from Kwangtung, you should be alright. Otherwise, please feel free to drop me an email and ask me questions.
