My guess from the pictures is 199x cant tell the last digit but it looks like there is another 9 that's very faded. If it weighs the same as zinc then I'm pretty sure its a 9 if it doesn't then I'm lost. Also better pictures would help.

i finally got around to weighing this coin. it weight 2.5 grams. just for comparison I weight several other "zincolns". all weighed 2.5 grams. all of the pre 82's that I checked weighted 3.0, or 3.1. so I believe the scale that I am using is accurate.
i dont know if this rules out environmental damage (like an acid soaking) or not.

I can't tell on the reverse? Is the reverse normal. The stains make it hard to tell for sure.

the reverse is NOT normal. "ONE CENT" is very weah - especially as it gets close to the rin. only the letter I in united states is complete - all other letters are weak. E.Pluribus.UNUM are faintly readable.

Looks like a struck through error. (grease) If it didn't have the stain, it might have been someone might collect. But with it, I would have probably tossed it back. I do that with discolored/damaged/zinc rotted cents.

It's likely a very weakly struck coin, but then it was left to sit in something and basically rot. Any premium value it could have had is ruined.

thanks for the input. premium value is always nice - but so is learning. I am not really selling anything as of now, so premium value is almost secondary (although important). I have just not found anything quite like this one - and wanted someones expert input. thanks.
