I Saved this one from melting.. To bad it's cleaned or something like that.. I've read that a lot of fakes are out there.. Is she real? It looks genuine to me..

Nice coin, it was an excellent idea to save it :D
The surface looks a bit odd near DOLLAR (sponge) - but maybe it's because of the picture focus (could be normal coin's usage marks).
Could you post a picture of the rim please ?

check the weight, and whether it reacts to a magnet: two inexpensive tests that will reveal a lot of fakes.

Here some pictures of the rim.. The weight of the coin is: 26,59/26,60 gram with a cheap scale.. and not magnetic..

Here is a VF one to compare with : http://cgi.ebay.com/GREAT-BRITAIN-1...t_937wt_1288
The design seems similar, but the details on yours seems 'mushy' - not sure if it's because of its circulation, or because it's a copy.
I wouldn't bet on it as being real, but it sure looks nice - it was an excellent idea to save it :D

The weight should be 26.95 grams, so yours is quite close, .3 difference is not unusual for circulated coins. My guess (and I'm by no means an expert) is that it's real but harshly cleaned not too long ago, making parts of it appear mushy.
