Can anyone help to identify what is going on with the L in Liberty?

The photos are the best I could capture it with. Under a 10x loop it appears to be an inverted D or O on top of and slightly to the left of the L. But I don't think this is possible. So I'm thinking its a Cud or something. It seems to have a distinct shape to it.

So before I put it in the bank bag I thought I'd ask you LMC folks.

As Always, Thanks

I though its dry up glue showing the 'L' through from the third picture. Environmental damage from the overall picture is my guess.

Plating split. The zinc is reacting to the air. It happens when the plating is torn.

Long story really short - your coin is damaged - corroded due to environmental exposure.
