Found these in '08 from a Unc bank roll. I have around 20 of them. What causes this? Can you see how it looks pebbly. They are in different places along the rim. Some are on the flat part of the rim and some are on the edge of the rim. Worth keeping? Thanks for your help everyone. John1

I think it is just damage of sorts but done during the minting
process. If you found that many it may suggest a problem at the time with the equiptment one way or another.

Hello,

I've been collecting the Presidential dollars since they began four years ago. I began finding dollars with this defect starting two years ago (in fact, I got two Hayes dollars from my local bank today and one had this defect). From my layman's perspective, I feel it is some type of damage that is too common to have a premium.
