Hi all,
I'm thinking of branching out with my collection but I'm uncertain in which direction I should go and I was hoping to get some opinions from the forum.

I personally prefer average rarity coins of higher quality over key dates and I tend to like diversity rather than a complete collection of all dates.

I have between $5-10K to spend and I'm wondering what you all would think would be the best to get into next?

Some highlights from my collection for context:

US Gold:
1986 $50 1oz Gold
1924 $20 Saint Gaudens Double Eagle
1910 $10 Gold Indian Eagle
1904 $5 Liberty Head Gold Half Eagle
1986 1/10 oz $5 Gold Eagle
1856-S $3 Indian Head Princess Gold
1850-O $2.50 Liberty Head Gold
1915 $2.50 Indian Head Gold
1851 $1 Liberty head gold
1794 8 Escudos Spanish Doubloon
1755 Spanish 1/2 Escudo
1556 Charles & Joanna of Spain Gold Cob Coin

US Non-Gold:
1798 Draped Bust Large Cent Type 1 hair
1803 Half Cent C-2
1817 One Cent
1857 Flying Eagle One Cent
1859 Indian Head Cent
1869 Two Cents
1843 Seated Liberty Half Dime
1833 Capped Bust Dime
1854-O Seated Liberty Dime
1898-S Barber Dime
1853-O Seated Liberty Quarter
1911-D Barber Quarter
1926-S Standing Liberty Quarter
1827 Capped Bust Half
1901-S Barber Half Dollar
1884-O Morgan Dollar
(and several hundred Mercury dimes and several dozen silver quarters/walking liberty halves)

US Currency:
1929 $5 National Currency (Marion, Ohio)
1953 B $5 Red Seal
1934 D $5 Blue Seal
1963 $5 Red Seal
1950 A $5 Green Seal
1953 A $2 Red Seal
1935 D $1 Blue Seal
1935 F $1 Blue Seal

Non-US Ancient Gold:
1382-1400 Gold Ducat Venice Doge Antonio Venier
998-1030 Mahmud, Ghaznavid Gold Dinar
706-715 Umayyad Al Walkid I Dinar 093H (Gold, Damascus mint)
582-602 Mauricius Tiberius Solidus
364-367 Valentininanus I

Thank you for the assistance!

You could also look into key dates or errors. I would look into a nice 1916D Mercury dime or an 1877 Indian Head cent for keydates. For erros I would look into the 1955 Double Dies Lincoln Cent or a 1937D 3 legged Buffalo nickel.

I would look at the different series of coins and which ever you like the best start collecting those. Its hard for others to suggest what will work for you because everyone likes different designs. We have some people that like Peace dollars and we have some that think they are the ugliest coin the US has ever minted, its just a matter of personal taste. Another thing to look at is are you wanting a few coins for that amount of money or allot of coins for that amount of money. If less is fine Gold may work for you, if more is what your goal is Mercury dimes would definitely be a way to go since you can buy MS-66 common dates for around 20-30 bucks a piece

Seems to be a lack of Lincolns in there.
Great collection!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I do have quite a lot of wheaties and Buffalo head nickles (too many to count of both) - I've included primarily the highlights here and I didn't include the semi-keys I have of them, but I suppose I don't like them as much as other coins.

I'll familiarize myself with more of the coin designs that the US has minted. I'm liking the early dollars (1798 is a bit more reasonable with regard to price range but still very expensive) and I think I would like to expand out my 17xx collection more.

Thanks again!

As Bryan 1315 has stated only you can decide which direction to go from this point in time. You can figure it out yourself by looking at the various series of coins and the ones you happen to like the most then concentrate on those and purchase the pieces which fit your grade/price criteria.
