pyrbob Rest in Peace United States 1943 Posts	Posted 08/10/2011 05:19 am The coin on the left is a type of Die Deterioration. It is very common on plated zinc cents. The coin on the right is not plated. Copper plated zinc cents started in the middle of 1982. I think the coin on the right is just PMD from exposure to something that discolored the coin. That would affect the area around the date. Here is an overlay: Not a collectable piece, but maybe an educational piece. On some of the wheat reverses you can see an outline of lincoln someimtes called a ghost image. But no extra value for them. Report this Post to the Staff
