I just noticed that the 32-D and -S are both valued at less than $90 on Numismedia (G-4) http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...icesgd.shtmlIn my latest CDN (I have a monthly subscription), the bid is still $105 and $115. What accounts for the inversion? Or has the wholsale price dropped 40% in the past month? Is the market flooding with these things?

I hope so, since I have neither.

I have seen significant softening of both 32-D and 32-S in recent months. 32-D low grade AG-G can be obtained for well under $90 now. Beware of counterfeits, especially for the 32-D.

More silver Washington collections may be being sold off due to (1) the bad economy and (2) high melt value for common dates as compared to past decades.

I think the lower prices in the Washington quarters have to do with demand. When the State Quarter program started dealers couldnt keep the keys, mainly 32 D & S in stock. Everyone wanted to collect the complete set. Now with the end of the State Quarters demand has dropped along with the prices. I know a dealer who for months right before and after the program started bought all the 32's he could buy at shows while the prices were still reasonable. He sold alot of them after the demand rose throughout the quarter program and did real well. The only problem is, the dozen or so he has left he has to pull teeth to sell. The demand has dropped off that much.

I think david29 has it right. The decreased demand is from a number of current quarter collectors quitting while fewer new quarter collectors are coming in. The end of the Statehood Quarter program saw a decrease in demand and the American the Beautiful program could not sustain the interest. One reason being that a lot of the new collectors brought in by the Statehood Quarters got burned out or lost interest. Another reason being that the ATB Quarters are more difficult to just collect from circulation. People have quit or not started because completing the quarter collection is more difficult. less fulfilling, or both.

Thanks! It is difficult because the banks can no longer order specific quarters as they come out. Whatever they get is what they get. This applies to all denominations, not just the quarters. With a lot of change jars being recycled the last few years, banks are getting the older coins returned by customers. I see a lot of older dates these days, seldom anything from the last couple of years.

I think I'll pick up the 32D or S after december sometime, since they seem to be real cheap compared to what they used to be.
