I got another $50 bag off my banks coin counter on Friday. Set this one aside since I think it's my first "struck through Greaser"? Pulled 23 wheats out of this bag and three of those were hole fillers!

Nice find! Is it a wide or Close AM? Looks to be a CLAM based on the obverse.

Wrong obverse design style for 1997. John is correct, it is a 1991.

Pretty sure it is a 1991. Can barely see the "shadow" of a number 1 when I use my 17x loop. Going into a 2" x 2" to put aside for my Grandson's collection! Bill

To bad coppercoins mentioned that or I was going to say it was a real 199 Minted coin. Made by a fortue teller back in 199 that predicted the future of Lincoln.
It is odd that such errors are seling for $5 to $20 at coin shows.

What's "struck through Greaser"?

That is a very shiny cent, almost looks like it has a coat of varnish. What's with the horizontal marks above the 199? And how would that "1" be mostly missing? Possibly pounded flat?

Pretty cool find.

I could tell it was 1991 by a faded impression of a straight line after the second '9.' It would be diagonal if it were a '7.' Now, I wonder how you could determine it by the obverse. Have there been changes to the relief of the obverse of the Lincoln Cent between 1982-2008?
