Hi,

Please state what is going on with this D mint mark in terms of a variety or PMD.

Incidentally, a scanner generated the two larger shots while a digital camera created the MM shot.

Any numerical designations(if applicable) would also be appreciated.

Thanks,
mdpmedia

Looks like Die Deterioration plus a couple of hits on the MM. If you could get a pic with the opposite lighting (light coming from below, maybe even with the coin upside down), we could get a better look at the line on the bottom part of the D. The right side of the MM is just Die Deterioration though. Also, what are those lines on the bottom part of the coin from 5 to 7 o'clock?

Looks like coin mulitation. They are on the fields and over the devices. A sure sign that this was done PMD.

I have now attached a better photo displaying the bottom half of the D mint mark.

W/r/t the reverse marks at 5 - 7 o'clock I would guess that they are nothing more than a form of PMD: IMHO.

fyi,
