I don't remember which pattern this is but it is beautiful. The obverse shows full detail on the eagle feathers with perhaps a bit of wear or strike weakness on the talons. The reverse shows what looks like light wear over the high points of the leaves. I don't see any sign of cleaning, just original wood-grain striations in the planchet and brown copper toning. I'd call it PR-58 BN based on the hint of reverse wear.

I'd love to add this coin to my collection! Is it yours?

That's an interesting pattern!
I don't know the high points for wear, but it appears just barely circulated.

Scott's has it listed as pattern #78 (-A for copper, -B for bronze)

Obverse is Flying Eagle 1 die (similar to 1854 obverse Longacre FE die); reverse same as No. 73 (1854 FE pattern; ONE CENT in thick laurel wreath); Copper (#78-A), bronze (#78-B), oroid (#78-C), copper-nickel 80:20 (#78-D), copper-nickel 60:40 (#78-E) and pure nickel (#78-F) varieties exist; plain edge; rarity is R5 in copper and R8 in bronze.

Specimens also exist with the a thin laurel wreathed reverse (#77-A - E).

Very cool coin!
I would agree with the assessment that this coin seems to be very lightly circulated.

I forgot to add the pattern guess also.
NG seems to have it correct. No, sorry not my coin
but wanted to post it as you may be surprised at the grade.
Hint: Thinking about this pattern then look again at the reverse a little closer as well as the overall obverse.
I won't keep you all long on it.

Love this pattern!
I just acquired an 1855 J-168.
Is it J-170?
Could be lighting but looks like wear on eagle head too.
Grade PR53 BN?

Huh. So it's not wear--just strike issues.

Made my hair straight up , wonderful !
I dont know about proof it looks more like AU- to me !
Unbelievable per the amount of wear I'm thinking it was in circulation in the past . I would love to know the history of this coin particularly , how the owner acquired , if it has been circulated or not etc.
What about the value ? My 2006 RedBook is a lil out of date ... I think so lol !

This may help with getting an idea of value.

They don't appear to come up for sale too often.
