So, I have been watching (not buying mind you), and learned much about some coins I knew nothing about....

1. Tonight they were selling ANACS MS-70 2011 Panda's, nothing new there obviously, at ONLY 150 dollars, and hey three easy payments, lol....

2.State quarters first 8 set, parks, gold plated an such. Seems like it is five sets of the first 8, holograms, gold plated, and whatever the other three are, in a big brown box with slide out trays, and a top glass flip up on top. I believe it was 150 shipping and all. The guy claims there rare and the under the radar numismatic angle these days, lol....

3. Proof sets, like 25 from like 68 on up. Total price 300, and he claims it is worth 7 or 8 hundred just for the S Eisenhower's of the mid 70's, the Kennedy half proofs with S mark, and Susan B Anthony perhaps with value, be it silver or collecting factor. the nickels an Lincoln pennies as well with value, and he said he has cracked like 10,000's of sets over the years to get to the proof coins, that you can ONLY get in these proof year sets....

Anyhow, not saying any of that above is true or false, as I figured you guys would clarify on the last two examples above, and if any of you particularly collect them for the reasons I mentioned or others?

The proof sets of 25, being 140 coins seems not to bad of a rip off, which breaks down to around 12 bucks a set, and I see my year of 1974 for example up for sale on ebay between 10 an 15 bucks. One would think the small silver content alone, would make it an attractive buy for some perhaps, not this guy however, lol....

I think the quarter sets would be an intriguing thing to own, not for the minuscule gold plating, but the numismatic rare collecting factor....

Now they are selling NGC MS-63 Morgans for 138 total with the shipping, lol....

And I nearlly Joe'd my pants when I saw a $5 gold Eagle MS-70 for only 350 bucks rof....

And he said.... "Hey guys, gold has went up like three hundred bucks in the last couple weeks, and we have not moved our prices up one penny."

Why would you when you are charging double the price everyone else does geeeez. If I looked and haggled around enough, I bet I could find two 5 dollar AGE's for 350, lol....

You can fnd MS-70 gold 5 dollar Eagles all day on ebay for around 215 to 220.....

Here is a gold plated 56 coin set for 82 total if one person bid only....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-2009-S...em1c1e23f0a6

Now then, the HSN show sells this exact same set for 100 bucks plus about ten more shipping....

I can't help but wonder how much those 56 gp State Quarter sets would bring in 15 to 20 years. Not for the near meaningless 24k gp of course, but the coin sets themselves....

" I nearly Joe'd my pants ". Priceless! As far as the America the Beautiful Quarters I am only collecting then two ways. I will put all of them that my wife or I get in circulation in a bank bag and I will buy the five coin Silver Proof Set from the United States Mint every year. I would stay away from decaled or plated coins altogether. The plated coins are actually worth less than an uncirculated quarter because it is damaged.

Well Junior, they sell the non gp sets, which are "clad proof" for only 250 bucks, lol....

One day down the road, if a guy ever found the clad ones at a decent price, would that be a good set to own you think?

Again, this is not an investment angle, I would just like to have one good example each of all 56 State Quarters for my personal collection. I am putting everything on G @ S right now when I can, so I doubt I will be adding that set anytime soon....

I suppose the next best thing as you mentioned, the bank bag idea. Well thought out I should have already been doing that. Funny I am so budgeted, I can't afford to loose the quarters, lol....

They did say a few are real hard to find, like the Virgin islands territory quarter....
