Ranas of Mewar used to issue square coins for Malwa in the last few decades of fifteenth until it was annexed by Akbar to the Mughal Empire. Rana Sanga, Rana Vikramaditya and Rana Banbir etc are some of them. The coin given below belongs to that group but a precise attribution is still beyond me.

This needs to be re-attributed to a Malwa issue of Mahmud shah-III of Gujarat, M229B of G&G.
An overlay is added herewith.

This coin was issued in 875AH as sultan. He had been issuing coins as heir apparent from 860-873AH, prior to becoming sultan.

Another issue of Mahmud-III bin Lathif shah of Gujarat. Here the date is a challenge. Mahmud had Malwa in hand from 944AH to 949AH. The date on this coin does not suit this period in any way. But the legend is an exact match!A funny part is that the obverse is a mule of Bahadur shah coins' obverse.

A Malwa coin in the name of Bahadur shah of Gujarat. The date is 944.AH, but Bahadur period ended in 943. In all probabilities this must be a posthumous issue that came from Malwa due to a delay in the news reaching mints of Malwa.
