Felt it pretty good here in Chester County, PA! Seems like most of the east coast felt it to some extent.

Looks like USGS downgraded it to a 5.8 Good thing--a 5.9 is actually 10 times stronger on the scale.

I'm too far south to have felt it (south FL). But the only earthquake I remember around Florida was around 2-3 years ago. It happened in the Gulf of Mexico, and the whole Florida west coast (and even Orlando) supposedly felt it. It was a small one though, but even that one I didn't feel, since I'm on the east coast of FL, around half hour inland from Ft. Lauderdale.

Not quite DVC. 6.0 is 10x stronger then 5.0, but 5.9 is only 1.26x stronger then 5.8.

Upstate, how far away are you from Albany?

I'm south of Syracuse.
Got a daughter at college in Albany so I'm often in the area.
Once in a while I stop at Saratoga coins, near the airport.
Ever been there?

it's a base-10 logarithmic scale, and somewhere I got mixed up--or got bad info.
You'd think I'd get that right, after living through numerous quakes, including a 7.1.

Are you talking about the Olde Saratoga coin? If so then yes. My main coin shop is the one in Colonie Center, Empire State Coin.

glad to hear everyone is pretty much OK. I will warn all of you east coasters, stay away from the left coast. We get these little guys all of the time! OK, 5.8 is a bit bigger but it is not uncommon for a 4.something to roll through... I live in Santa clara County...San Andreas, Loma Prieta..sure you have heard of them

I shouldn't poke fun at it really. I was in my basement standing on a huge concrete slab in my socks and I can tell you without a doubt that the slab was moving almost an inch back and forth. It was a very unsettling feeling and makes you seriously think what a "real" earthquake can do.
