Darn, I have 10 1966 20 cents coin but none of them seem to be the wavy design. Neither have I managed to pull out a large head 2004 20 cents.

I check the coins in the till at work every week. There is usually 2 to 4 1966 in there, but I have never found a wavy base line. I did find one large head 2004 though.

"Yeah, I have to admit, thanks to this thread I've just starting doing $50 - $100 worth of 20¢ for the last two weeks and have yet to come across A Wavy OR a Big Head!" -Zaggy

"In the last week, I have searched $250 20 cents pieces. No Big heads." -Yass

I Usually search $400 of 20¢ each second week ($400 of 50¢ the alternate weeks) and used to find 3 or 4 big heads each time. Now, last 3 times it has been 1, 2, 2. They do seem to be getting harder to find. Similar with CoF and UN anniversary; although Bradmans are still turning up reasonably often. And 1985 -forget it though 2.7million minted (and 1988 too -although, supposedly, 174,000 were released to circulation).

Keep looking; there are more out there somewhere. Wavys would only average one per $3,200 -or thereabouts- on the figure we have in this thread.

cheers
Jeff

By the way, I am curious... How are ppl here going about getting their coins to sort thru?

Me, I'm hitting a bank and essentially 'withdrawing' $50 - $100 in coin... BUT the problem is, when one takes in back and banks it, they charge a 1% fee (2% on non-bagged coin deposits!). Now, am I doing it all wrong? Going to the Wrong Banks? Any idea's on how to avoid the 1% fee deal?

Yes I am... Newcastle Greater Building Society. See fee structure (curses) at http://www.greater.com.au/SavingsAc...oidthem.aspx

I havent been charged it, YET, cos the Teller that I was dealing with was pretty and I can be charming at times. But still, if I go thru $1000 worth of coins per month, suddenly I'm up for $10-$20 of fee's and that will eat up my 'transaction allowance' at this institution. SO...

How does everyone else do it?
Any institutions that DONT charge this sort of fee?
Any other considerations?

Yes, I am new to this whole going through circulating coins thing! :)

So far my Bank hasn't mentioned anything about fees, but I'm sure if they realise there's money to be made from charging a fee, it's probably just a matter of time.

The branch I go to seems to be a training centre as there are always new staff & they usually ask if I am a customer, so I flash my debit card & no probs. Which Bank?

I haven't had to pay a fee. I usually bring bags of 50s and take away 20s (or vice versa) -don't know if that makes any difference.

Best advice I can give is be nice to teller (try to go to same one all the time) who will, hopefully, 'forget' to charge the fee. If it is straight swap to and from the cash draw then the system cannot know it has happened. Also, get some of the ziplock change bags and bundle them up as per the amount on the bags for the specific denomination.

cheers

Since my last update I have found 5 more bigheadsand another has been reportd -no wavys.
So that makes running total of 7 wavys reported for 232 bigheads.
Wavy initial circulation estimate is now 12,070.
