1917 dimes were minted with two different master hubs - the one from 1916 and a slightly redesigned one, creating two subtypes for that date. A third master hub was used for 1918 and the rest of the series.

Does anyone here collect the different subtypes of 1917 and/or have good comparison pictures?

As far as I can tell the differences are to small to be easily recognized. Might be the reason no Album or Folder manufacturer has a place for them. Most books on coins, such as the Red Book or Blue Book mentions them either.
Just as with all the now more and more poping up large and small Mint Marks on Mercury dimes, those too do not have places in those same Folders or Albums.
Out of well over 3,000 Mercury dimes I don't think I'd even go looking for those.

I think I have both types for a 1917 S. I'll try to take some pics and post later.

It's funny which varieties get holes set aside for them in albums. The 1945 micro S has a big following, but why none of the other mint-mark varieties? I believe the hub changes in 1917 were associated with a changes in mint-mark styles too. It's like the small/large date Lincoln cents. Why no 1974 small/large date holes when the 1970 small/large date is almost imperceptible by comparison? (grr pet-peeve)
