Why in the world does it make any darned difference what day a coin was made or what strike it is? Most coins purchased from the mint are extremely high grade in the proof and bullion programs. The grading companies have looked for ways to suck the blood out of the collectors in this country since the days they were "invented" and as long as the collectors continue to take the "bait" they will keep hyping new ideas. This amounts to nothing more than thousands of collectors looking for "bragging" rights when there really isn't anything to brag about. Keeping up with the Jones' or the next door neighbor is foolish and child like behavior because in the end NOBODY really cares. I have said all along collect what you want and that which fits your budget! Avoid modern day hype as that is just what it is. ALWAYS keep in mind SOMEDAY you may want to sell your collection or specific items and to do so you MUST have a buyer! The FIRST DAY STRIKES are about to sink like a pirate ship and THEY should as there have been, if I remember correctly, 178,000 bullion coins designated as first day strikes. Come on folks, this is MORE than enough evidence to understand the impossibility of the whole program. Nothing more than greed at its finest, by the grading companies, backed by imaginary and hyped prices!
