Is this common with the 1970 nickels to have an extra beaver in front or it looks like one.

By "extra" do you mean "1 instead of 0"? If so, then yes.

If by "extra" you mean "2 instead of 1", then no. But I'm afraid I only see 1 beaver on this coin.

edit: By the way, that's sure a nice looking coin!

I am guessing you are trying to say that you see some sort of doubling of the beaver, particularly in the head area?
I zoomed in on your fairly good image provided and maybe can detect a bit of Machine Doubling on that maple leaf and maybe some on the rock under the beavers nose but without a really good 20X clear image, determining a double die is not possible from looking at your image.
I suspect that this is a normal coin though.

Yes, it is, except for it's very low mintage.

Beautiful looking coin.

Yes indeed, a very nice coin for sure. In going through uncirculated rolls that is quite common on all dates.
You have the right to call it a double beaver but I will call it die bounce. Everyone should have one. Good eye.

Looks like a PL (proof-like) strike. You can find all sorts of Machine Doubling damage (MDD) on PL 5c coins all through the 1970s. Happy hunting!
