Various Britain Silver Coins: Just Bullion Value?

Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6394 Posts	Posted 08/28/2011 1:17 pm I picked up a group of assorted British silver coins and my old price guide indicates these have little collector value. I wonder if our British coin specialists can suggest whether any of these are worth a premium? I'll take pictures if any warrant extra attention. 3 pence: 1881, 1886 (both low grade and damaged): 1909, 1917 (fine or better, no problems). 6 pence: 1899 (VG or so). Shilling: 1859 (good); 2 X 1901 (F and VF). Florin: 1903 and 1922 (F or better); 192? (very worn, could be 1920 or 1922?). I would appreciate your input! Report this Post to the Staff

wheatiefan Pillar of the Community United States 508 Posts	Posted 09/13/2011 07:45 am I used to pay a little above spot silver for nice foreign coins. But I quit buying silver altogether in the last year or two. They would be worth a premium to me. However, as the price of silver goes up, the premium diminishes. ie Would you rather sell at $10/oz and get a 40% premium, or sell at $40/oz with no premium? I'd certainly rather have these in my silver hoard than an equivalent amount of 'junk' silver dimes or Kennedy halves. How about you? -wheatiefan Report this Post to the Staff
