Although this is Canadian area, there may be some of you who are at risk: Weekly Email: August 29, 2011 Hi RICHARD, Federal officials now say that Liberty Dollars may be subject to seizure as "contraband." The U.S. Attorney's Office that prosecuted NORFED founder Bernard von NotHaus states that individuals owning Liberty Dollars could have them confiscated, even if they are just holding them in their collection or displaying them for educational purposes, a reversal of earlier comments from the same office. In addition, a U.S. Secret Service official stated that while he could not offer a formal ruling, he suggested that Secret Service agents would be duty-bound to confiscate the medallions once marketed as an alternative currency before the arrest and conviction of von NotHaus on federal charges, including counterfeiting. Concerns about the possible confiscation of the medallions led ANA officials to reject a collector's request to exhibit his collection of Liberty Dollars during the recently concluded ANA World's Fair of Money.

Obviously the US government has issues with those who want a currency with some intrinsic value.
However, I don't blame them. It is easier for the government to increase it's powers when they can control the currency.

They REALLY want a solid-PM based system killed! Hold on though, b/c if they can do this, and it sticks in the books, then they will be able to regulate any and all barter/favors/etc. that they want to. This ruling cannot stick. The ramifications are just way too far reaching. Sure, the current admin would love this kind of control. But I think once patriotic Americans are back at the helm, stuff like this will not be able to stick.

Oh yes, let us not also forget that if they make this stick, then they also get to keep the 8 million (I believe this was the number) they confiscated also. However, I don't think this has ANYTHING at all to do with their motivations in this direction ... do you?

I find this to be ridiculous. Is this due to a possible silver shortage. And, if they can do this what does it mean to those who my want to sell later on? I better pull my pics on the other tread and get rid of the evidence.

Please ship all your Liberty Dollars to me in Aus, for safe keeping. I think they should be safe here. Steve

Tyranny. And they will come for you if they think you're big enough, like Marc Emery. FEDs'll break international laws to enforce their own silly statutes. They have no respect for sovereignty or free markets.

How long until they confiscate ALL coins containing precious metals? They are gonna have to get through my family's 3 AR-15s, our tactical shotgun, and our numerous handguns before they can get to our precious metals.
