It looks like a nice set. I decided to not collect copper nickle clad coinage so I only have the silver proofs in the proof sets. Your proofs look great.

Very nice. I decided to draw the line at the p and d set. I didn't plan on collecting these but then I did, so p and d was good enough for me.

I don't collect proofs. I stick mostly with business strikes.

I don't care for proofs at all. I decided never to collect any. The only ones I collect are the PDSS sets of state and national park quarters. the whole set looks cool. The only other proofs I would buy would be old classic proof coins, which I think are awesome because they don't look like modern proofs.

Those are some nice Kennedys!
Since everyone else is chiming in with their proof collecting interests (or lack thereof), I am halfway in between: I stick to proof cents and nickels only so I don't get burned with the silver stuff!

I will get pics eventually but my Kennedy collection is almost complete, just missing 8: 64 Proof, 97S, 99S, 01S, 02S, 03S, 08S, 10S.
I haven't really made a distinction between silver and CuN clads in the issues they made both, it is just fill the holes in the books. Once I fill in the dates I will attempt to complete the series with the composition variants, I actually have more of the silver issues than CuN ones in the years they made both for collectors anyway.

I could never bring myself to breaking up the mint packaging to put the proofs in an album. Just seems wrong in some way.

I have felt the same way but viewing the set is cumbersome with the many proof sets and the mint packaging, not to mention the storage issues.

Very nice! Quote: I could never bring myself to breaking up the mint packaging to put the proofs in an album. Just seems wrong in some way. It was very easy for me to do. I had to fill the holes and the proposition of buying coins I already had (in the proof sets) seemed wrong. But to each their own!

Thanks guys. Personally I LOVE proofs, of any kind. I view them as the pinnacle of coin making. The care and process needed to polish the dies, the efforts to prepare the planchets to the point they will take the strike the way intended. Just beautiful coins IMO.

love the look of proof coins next to the business strikes, I am on a tighter budget though and use roll searching for 95 percent of my coins I think I would have a hard time breaking up proof sets too. I bought one from my birth year for my dansco 7070 but haven't gotten the album yet, so I don't know if I will break it until I get the album

I have no probleam at all cracking a proof set. I like the albums, and it certainly is easier as far as viewing goes. And if I can snage the set, proof or mint, at a low price, then I will do that in a heartbeat. I have gotten a couple where two of the coins were worth twice the price I paid for the set. And the ones I dont use for books go into the rest of the collection or I sell them.
Now, its fun to watch my wifes face as she hears the sound of the plastic cracking. LOL

Nice Kennedys Smoker! I have a complete Dansco 7166. I might collect the proofs later after I win the lottery!
