I received a PCGS slabbed ASE today and the label states 2011 ASE STRUCK @ West Point, I DO NOT see any mint mark on the reverse, I hope this is not taken as a silly question, I just thought if the coin is struck at that mint, the mint mark would be there, looking for any and all opinions, Thanks in advance, Mike

Bullion-grade ASE's made at West Point (or San Francisco, as of 2011) do not have a mint mark on the obverse.

Your bullion ASE was most likely sent to PCGS in a West Point-sourced 500-coin "monster box".
Bullion 2011 ASE's from San Francisco-sourced monster boxes are attributed as "San Francisco Mint" on their slabs.

Thank you.....So to set me/this straight, the West Point mint makes bullion ASE'S and the "collectors ASE silver
rounds", and the only visible mark and difference is the "W", correct, made in the same building, from probably the same coining presses and the letter on the master hub makes the ASE more valuable?

You're welcome.

If you want a year-2011 "Uncirculated" (collector-version) ASE with a "W" mint mark, click here. (available September 15th)

The Uncirculated coin will have a "burnished" finish (struck from burnished blanks), like the 2006-2008 "W" coins. So the finish is of a higher standard than the bullion coin, it's not just adding the "W" letter. (I bought ten 2007-W ASE's in OGP boxes at a coin show in 2008, just because I liked their burnished finish!)

I just wanted to add, I love the family here to! Never thought I would find a place I loved, as much as what I wanted to talk about.

That's about right. Oh the collectors version is a little frostier and the mintage is lower.

For this year's 25th anniversary the Mint is making a bunch of different ASE's A special set that will have a 2011 bullion coin (probably from West Point), a 2011-W proof, a 2011-W collectors version, a 2011 REVERSE Proof (mint unknown), and a 2011-S collectors version.

You also get a box and COA . The 2006-W's were already fetching a premium at that coin shown I went to in 2008,
so when a dealer offered me ten 2007-W Unc. ASE's in their OGP (box, COA) for $250 total in cash (yes, $25 each!),
I jumped on it.

2011 REVERSE Proof (mint unknown)

An August 19th article in Mint News Blog states the Reverse Proof in the 25th Anniversary Set will be minted in Philadelphia.
"The two potentially unique coins included in the set are the 2011-S Uncirculated Silver Eagle
and the 2011-P Reverse Proof Silver Eagle. Provided they are not released in any other format,
these coins would have a mintage of 100,000 each,
in line with the maximum production level established for the set."

Bullion grade ASE's do not have a mint mark. Mint marks assigned by a third-party grader ( TPG) are irrelevent. Assigning mint marks by a TGP are an attempt to create value for themselves more than anyting else.

The old saying "buy the coin, not the holder it's in" applies.

I wonder. If you could buy, with absolute certainty, a 1965 Washington quarter minted at Denver ( no mint mark still), would you?

Or would you say, no mint mark... same thing.

Just a thought.
