It is actually illegal to sell, or even own, Canadian counterfeit coins. If anyone here does collect counterfeit coins, you would be wise not to broadcast that fact...

I know that protocal for banks is to keep the bill once received and call the police.
Meanwhile places like Tim Hortons often have a counterfiet bill in a frame near the drive through window so the employees can view incoming bills so as to prevent fraud.
Is this the same for coins?

Interesting but I wonder if collecting a few varieties would really get you in trouble. Sounds like a good excuse as per section 450. Either way no need to share if you do. Thanks

I don't think my coin is counterfeit, but who knows? Anyone think this could be the case here? Or is this one worth a little more research? The only info on fake 2$ coins I found was around 2006.

I think it is also illegal to own or trade counterfeit Newf coins as well. They are still legal tender in Canada I think.
