This is correct,, its a perception thing, as ALL companies have changed there grading standards many times over the years, ONE MUST LEARN HOW TO GRADE, as my friend
OZ reminds me all the time.... The reason we LEAN towards the top TPG's is because we are trusting in there experience with Morgan's Persay....as many years had known flaws as well as some years had absolutely great strikes that are TOO common, so those coins grades will be lower than a coin with known weak strikes ect...YET if you compare them to the general standards you would find the poorer coin should have a lesser grade.....But this is not so when coins per/by year are compared side by side.....1881-S always comes to my mind..
ALWAYS A FABULOUS strike..but they can't all be MS65..so the most minor deficiencies lower the grade.. yet compare them to other years and they would look to be higher grade
than compared to some of the New Orleans Mint Marks...
most have a flat ear, which would indicate an AU coin..Lack of detail over the ear in the hair detail...But this is not so...Many have the weak strike...YET SOME are nice strikes not weak.. that's why many rely on the TPG's
to decide for us....... Noticeably in my humble opinion,,
NGC coins are a bit more baggy on the overall surfaces..on there older coins...PCGS is over the top now...A coin must be 1/2 half higher grade point..to get the normal assigned grade..my meaning is, if your coin meets MS63 standards it will receive an MS 62...if it doesn't quite meet MS64 it will receive MS63...... ICG now puts Many coins in the AU58
category...These are some really nice coins. compared to older graded TPG holdered coins....This is why...
ONE MUST LEARN TO GRADE.....one point in grade difference can mean hundred to thousands of dollars...
this is where your investment or profit is lost...
