I have been acquiring MS Roosevelt dimes (proofs and silver proofs included) to go into a Dansco 8125. I have well over half sitting in 2x2s. I would like to spend a rainy day assembling the book. Should I do anything special before they go in? Acetone, water rinse, etc?

Now, I'm not sure on this one, however I would think that you wouldn't want to do anything special before they go in. I would just put 'em in all at the same time to reduce rub marks from the slides.

That is my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

No dont wash or acetone any of them, leave them how they are, it will look far nicer. (to me anyway)

keep them the way they are but I recommend wearing gloves when you put them in. the oil from your skin will cause them to tone unevenly over time.

I like to vacuum the album, to get as much as the paper dust off as possible, before putting the coins in.

Albums have a lot of paper dust under the top
cover of the page, when you take the slides in a and out this dust is dragged to the holes where the coins are.

This is very important for proof coins. Paper dust on a proof coin will attract moisture and over time a spot will develop.

I agree with others, do not touch the coins with bare hands. And if possible have all the coins for each section/slide to limit the number of times the slide go over each coin.

As to the acetone or water rinse I would not do that. Acetone bath is used to correct a specific problem not a general procedure.

This is what I was thinking. I like the point to wait until I have most (all of the coins). At least I should have each section (as defined by the slide) complete before I move them into the Dansco. This is a one and done album, no upgrades.
