Picked this up today for my date set, an 1878-CC in MS-63 condition. It is an end of roll coin with nice color on the obverse and white on the reverse.

Oh, we Marines do have an eye for details and character and this coin has it in spades.

I love anything Morgan, minted in 1878 and at CC and this one sure is a fine lookin' thing.

Nice Coin. How did the rest of the roll turn out?

By the way. I forgot to ask. The picture looks pretty good. Did you take it or is a scan?

Stew, I took the picture. I use a Canon Rebel XT and I wait until about 5 to 6 PM and with the sun behind and to my left I place the coin on a table about waist high and position the camera directly above the coin and snap the picture. This way I don't get the glare from the sun and with the natural light I get the most accurate reproduction of the color of the coin. I have tried taking photos inside but could never get satisfactory results with the flash always going off and I've tried using multiple lights but whatever color the coin has never comes out right.

By the way, this is the fourth CC dollar to go into my date set. It is accompanied by an 1882, 1883, and 1884 and in about a week to seven days there will be an MS-63 1881-CC added to the album. When the album is finally complete I will have all but four of the CC dollars in it. I won't have the 1879, 1889, 1892 or 1893 CC's.

The lens is a 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 zoom lens with a UV(O) filter.

I'll have to take a closer shot of the mint mark as it just might be a VAM-18 and see what the VAM guys on here think about it.

It's not VAM-18; 18 is a B1 reverse (long nock) while yours is a B2 reverse (normal nock).
