This coin just sold on ebay for $$$$. The seller tried to photo the coin, but could not catch much detail. As far as I can tell this could be a VAM 7 or 7A. Seems like too much money for a piece that one cannot accurately evaluate. What do you think?

Not sure what you mean but I cannot see anywhere
that it is stated that this is a vam-7 or other.
I think that literature is normally included with the coin.

Maybe they have it as just a MS-66

7A, I think, and pretty much a lock at 65. Stupid money even if it is Condition Census.

Dave

Pretty positive that you got it correct.
Took me a while to see all of the clash marks.
Can just barely see the lips area and was tougher at
the lower back of the cap. It is a nice looking coin though
and would also agree at a 65, but max. though. Too much in the face area I think for a 66. I only saw that one MS63 that went for $577.00 so ? on a 65. No matter, as a few people wanted it and one paid for it :)
Wonder what a 66 through 68/69 (if possible) would bring ?

A GSA 65 of this year is about a $1000 coin at Heritage. A sole 1880-CC MS67 is, I think, the finest-known GSA Morgan.
