Was going through some Peace dollars I just picked up
over the weekend. Decided to take a closer look at them.
Not too bad a find I think. The normal obv. pic. is pretty lousy but the close up came out decent. At least with my photo
skills :) Coin has lots of nice luster in hand. A few dings etc. but no obvious wear.

Yes, they are tough at times to properly grade.
Different yrs., M.M.'s, and die states etc. have to be taken
into consideration. Some of these coins were just plain awful as far as strike detail. They also seem to have taken quite a beating from the punch to the bag so to say and on down the line. Many more contact marks etc. than most morgans I think. Out of the 10 ea. that I picked up, 5 are unc.'s with 2 au's in there. No biggie dates or anything but 2 S's (27,28) and an Au 34. I also have an Unc. 22-P that is a head scratcher on the VAM. I need to look into that one. So far no luck in finding it. Might need to get some pics. posted of it. Has a die gouge that starts just south of the B in lib. angles up then goes hor. (right) through the rays and hair and almost to the rim between the T and Y of Lib.. Then 2 more gouges near the neck and date. One from the inside middle center of the 1 and up (angle) across to just above the top of the 9 at the base of the neck. The other one runs Hor. into the neck just above the other one (gouge) It starts just out a bit from the neck in line with the Ver. of the E
in We and ends in the lower curve of the neck base. Does not go into the fields.
