My order processed at 12:45 and mine just processed today. Mach 1 I won't worry from what I have heard the cutoff line was around 5:00 EST.

I went from "on hold" to "in process" tonight. Still haven't uncrossed my fingers though.

Quote: Any way, I was thinking that the not opening the box part really only comes into play for the First Strike and Early Release designation, but the it hit me, didn't I read somewhere that they would have a special 25th anniversary set (100k mintage set) label they would slab these with? Perhaps that is what not opening the box preserves. Can anyone who knows, please clarify? what we are talking about is the "25th Anniversary set" label not the "25th anniversary" label and shipping them in the sealed box has nothing to do with early release, if the box is opened only 2 of the coins will have 25th anniversary set label, the others may get 25th anniversary but they would not be deemed from the special set from the label. I hope what I said made sense but if not just ask what part you do not understand and either I or someone else will try to explain it further Quote: I went from "on hold" to "in process" tonight. One of my orders went to in process about 2 days ago, the other one is still saying "on hold"

Pushed back another day; 5 units backordered. Expected to ship on 11/17/2011.Perhaps this is why I (and others) were given complimentary Express shipping, since they are going to sit on these a while...or do you think that they the sets are being sealed individually? Doubt it.

On the main product page for the 25th anniversary set it now says they are expected to ship in "late November." So I guess the "Expected to ship" date on our Track Order pages are just going to keep incrementing until they finally do get shipped.
Is it possible that the mint really didn't foresee that these would be hugely popular and sell out within hours?

With the mint, anything possible. The sale of gold and silver coins has been going through the roof the past two years. They should have expected a wild demand for this coin set. I don't understand why they made such a low mintage when they should have figured they could have sold a lot more, making even more profit.

IMO, there is NO WAY that the mint did not foresee these as going to be popular. The 25th Anniversary (SILVER Anniversary) of the ASE? Two of the five being available only in this set. This has "buy me" written all over it! What I still can't figure out is how are these still listed on ebay after the first round were taken down so abruptly? I placed one set on ebay last Thursday night, (no smoke and mirrors, actual representation with a stock photo), and it was taken down sometime Friday. Did they loosen up their rules after there were so many placements that they figured they were going to lose money by taking them down? I actually saw some listings that had a "sealed mint box" pictured, when we all know darn well that they have not left the shipping department yet. Talk about FRAUD!

I also think they had to know, especially with the popularity of the 20th anniversary set and it only having one special coin in that set. I remember there was a 10 set limit on the 20th ann. sets so with them lowering it to 5 I really believe they knew it was going to be very popular

There will always be trouble when applying logic to Mint actions....

The 2006 set went on sale August 31st and took well over two months to sell out. I think that if you take 250K sets to 100K, 10 set limit to 5, and 1 unique coin to 2, you might not think that 75+ days would reduce to 0.2 days. Using simple ratios, a not too unreasonable estimate might have been a week to sell out this set.

yeah I remember them talking about removing the 10 set limit on the 20th anniversary sets after a while. I was talking about the popularity of them on the secondary market but I don't guess they look at the secondary market when they try to determine popularity

I just got an email from the mint apologizing for the difficulties on the 27th and promising to figure out how to do a better job in the future. For those of you who were hoping for a post sale household limit reduction this letter is a handful of nails in that coffin. It makes it quite clear that the lessons learned will be used going forward and mentions the upgrade of the ordering system next year and that the new system should be in place by next fall. If we want to continue to be able to purchase popular offerings from the mint, we should all let them know that the new system needs protections against programmed ordering and any other scheme used by those circumventing the household limits. We can't stop them but we can keep them from taking unfair advantage of an efficient order system.
