My order went from hold status to in process status with an expected ship date of 16 Nov. Got my order placed at 12:29 ET.
If I understand some of the posts in this thread correctly. If you placed an order for 5, they will come in a sealed box.
If you open the box to admire your new set, that will compromise the entire set if you wish to get at least one set graded.
Will each set not be individually sealed i.e wrapped in a plastic sheet?
Any clarification would be appreciated.

The 20th Anniversary sets came in a nice presentation box.. in a box..in a sleeve...in a plastic bag. Nothing was sealed and I would think this set will be packaged similarly.

You are correct about the sealed box thing if you want to get them graded. A lot of single set pre-sales right now are for unsealed boxes most likely from a 5 set order.

This will keep the POP numbers for graded set way down so it might be worth biting the silver bullet and grading your prize.

Wonder if it's possible to call the mint and ask if an order for 5 be split into individual orders?

I called and asked and they said they could not, unless the guy I talked to just didnt know.

The no-split policy is probably true for this set anyway. They probably have to go through a return-reorder scheme on all but 1 set to do it and since there is a waiting list the for extra sets would probably have to go there. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if their order system is that limited, it is quite old.

Hmm now I'm curious. I understand what everyone's been saying about the pedigree on the 3 non-25th (100k mintage sets) being unverifiable once the box is opened, however, I see several 2011 eagles already slabbed as 25th anniversary on ebay. Like the 2011 W proof I ordered earlier this year, I could send it in now and get it slabbed as 25th anniversary.

Any way, I was thinking that the not opening the box part really only comes into play for the First Strike and Early Release designation, but the it hit me, didn't I read somewhere that they would have a special 25th anniversary set (100k mintage set) label they would slab these with? Perhaps that is what not opening the box preserves. Can anyone who knows, please clarify?

can anyone explain the 25th's that are already slabbed and listed on ebay? I'm torn on whether I want to rip mine open or not. From what I've read, the 2 key dates will be slabbed as "special" 25th's whether they're sealed in the shipping box or not. If all of the slabs are going to be the same, couldn't you just open, have the 2 key coins slabbed and then buy the others as slabbed 69-70s on ebay? Am I making any sense at all? lol

And now, the continuing saga of...

<cue orchestra>

Any-News-On-25th-Anniversary-ASE-Set?

Our story so far:
Earle42 orders, pays for, gets confirmation number by phone, takes a screenshot of said order in his account, and later that day takes a screenshot where the computer stole his order.

Earle42 For various reasons, and at sundry times, has talked with customer service representatives Lori, Judy, Tiara, Steve, Yolanda, and Patty.

It is now five days later as per Patty's instructions, and we pick up our story as Earle42 again dials the all-too-familiar phone number 1 800 USA MINT and enters option zero:

<music fades >

Automated recording : the US Mint would like you to take part in a survey after you speak with a customer rep. Please stay on the line after talking with your representative to take part in the survey.

Customer Service Rep Whitney (gets proposed to, gets married, and has three children, while Earl 42 relates his story): No problem! Just call back in a few days and we will have the problem solved.
Earle42 : Excuse me? Last Friday I was told by Patty that she was personally forwarding the information to a supervisor who was supposed to have my case solved by today when I called.
Customer Service Rep Whitney : Let me check on that for you... music plays... My supervisor tells me there is nothing that we can do right now since they are still working on this project looking for missing orders. They will get back with you when they are ready.
Earle42 : I know the sets sold out last Thursday. The longer they wait the more likely it will be that all the sets will be shipped out and I will not get my order.
Customer Service Rep Whitney : Yes, they were sold out. However, they will be filling orders like yours with orders that are canceled or with situations where credit card payment do not go through.
Earle42 : Excuse me, but I had a confirmation number and have screenshots proving my order went through just 13 minutes after the mint opened for taking orders. Mine was not a late order, and based on your policy of first-come first-served, my order should not be filled with canceled orders. The computer erased my order that had already been confirmed. My order was confirmed as one of the first in line so it should not be relegated to the tail end where it might not have a chance of being filled at all. Rather a person at the end of the line should be the informed the mint made an error and the sets were sold before their order was taken.
Customer Service Rep Whitney : I am sorry I do not have the authority to do this. The best I can do is tell you that the mint will contact you when they are ready and have this problem solved. Sorry I have no timeline on this.
Earle42 : Whitney, I know you were just doing what you are told. I guess I will call back in one week to see how things are going.

Earle42 Now waits on the line for the survey to start. Mysteriously, it never does ......

The Story Continues...

It has been made EXTREMELY confusing by all the grading companies. They came out with 25th Anniversary labels on graded ASE's months ago and NOW decided to make a special "25th Anniversary SET" label for this 5 coin set.

To add to the confusion they have labels on the 2010 ASE's that say "25th Year of Issue"

It's only gonna get worse when ebay sellers do some happy talk to make it seem that these fluff labels came from the 5 coin set...

Stay tuned.....

My orders moved into the processing phase. I guess that means I am on the good side but until they come home who knows.

I figure with only 100,000 sets more than a few people are going to be upset they did not get theirs.

Limited order, more than 100,000 people wanted them combined with ordering problems means some people who thought their order went through may not have. Like I said until I get the silver it is not a done deal.

Now to open or not open? That is personal and to me I am going to open all of my sets. I would feel pretty foolish if just by chance they shipped an empty box.

I don't care for grading it is not what I want or buy. In the worse case I will have two coins that anyway you look at it they only made 100,000 in 2011. I will let those that feel grading is important or will bring more value get it done.

I do believe they should have a better plan for limited editions and ordering. Who knows maybe a lottery system would be fair.

Oh I have no intention of having the coins graded. Far to expensive and I have always been one to appreciate the coins ungraded. I will be listing the other two of them on ebay probably so I don't think the fact they are unopened will compromise the value to much. Thanks for the clarification everyone! Can't wait to see the first pictures of the new sets!

I know what I'm "apt" to do.....which is keep one and sell one (raw, because of two Sets with only one order)

One MUST remain in my collection I strongly feel.

But I'm not 100% percent decided either !

I can still keep my package intact and wait until I decide if I want to send it off for grading or not.

I don't really know that I want 5 separate slabs containing my 25th Anniversary Set Eagles......I don't collect "slabs", so my "conundrum" is still there.

I wish the five slabbed coins would at least come in a "Set-like package" for display.......

Earle42, I though you had a trade pending with jgfindring. If I were you I would I would get that trade and wouldn't let the Mint drive your blood pressure through the roof. Not trying to be negative or criticize you at all, it's just from the sound of it, sound like the Mint is giving you the run-around.

If any members that ordered just one set, and plan on opening that one box.

If any such member might be interested in a trade of some sort, I would be interested.

I have 5 sets ordered, I would trade one of my sets for a unopened set and would be willing
to throw something in on the deal .. If any one is interested let me know

Oh .. my 5 sets have moved to the processing phase.

Hi. all I had about give up hope on getting a set because of how late my order went in 7:09 eastern . Every day I have been checking the track order page four or tusmore times a day . As always the status was on hold backordered . But low and behold checked today when I got in from work and to my disbelief order status was in process but still on backorder . So maybe some of us late order's will get a set . Also has any ones order went to in stock and reserved? Jake

Yes, thankfully jgfindring and I have a trade in the process. But its possible to still get these 2011 sets, then I might be able to return the favor with the same kind of trade for someone else (since I would like a 2006 3-piece set to keep anyway). Also getting 5 sets would allow me a shot at an MS70 set; give me something to sell for financing my other coin interests; or allow me to put away some good coins for the future.

As to my blood pressure - I guess mt intent on making light of this situation through my posted "story" has failed. I actually was having fun while composing it!

I also get a kick out of talking with the reps b/c they keep being surprised I am not (their words) "cussing them out," but rather tlaking nicely and also joking with them.

Actually I would kick myself if I did pursue this. Since confirmation was given, I am genuinely interested in seeing how they handle this. I suspect I know the outcome - but, hey, I have a lot of time on my hands anyway. Besides, if it were not for this whole ordering mess, I would not have discovered this:

https://goccf.com/t/101798

So no matter what - I made out in the end anyway!
