After reading through another Topic here on CCF, Another, "Greatest Roll Ever". https://goccf.com/t/97344 Once again I come across a seller clearly stacking rolls. (Creating Custom Rolls) And selling them as Unsearched. After checking his feed back, I see plenty of people who leave 100% then danced around negative feed back, instead of just saying, No Good Scam! or something clear cut to the point. To let other buyers know just what their dealing with. I see this all the time, on ebay. Now for this seller Its kinda obvious what hes doing, So is this the reason they fail to grade him properly. I wonder how some of these guy retain their 98's 99's and 100 ratings. When their clearly deceiving people. Are listings like this even worth reporting. For this seller if you haven't followed the link, He's selling a roll of wheat cents with a 1911,2&1/2 Quarter Eagle at one end and a silver dime at the other end (Reverse Shows One Dime) And in his description he's playing to the fact it could be the 1911D witch is key date. He knows darn well that their isn't any D on that coin, other wise he'd sell it as is. IDK? I just wanted to see some of your theories on why we can't rid ourselves of these phony sellers. By just leaving proper feedback. Thanks for your time. Amassey

Remember in the history books when the Feds got Capone on tax evasion because they couldn't finger him any other way....... I wonder if these roll scammers could get in trouble for gambling/raffle charges. They obviously don't have a gambling license, but the way their adds are worded, yet obviously misleading and untrue, could it be considered a form of gambling? Just a thought :-)

If you really put so much faith in feedbacks, try to remember how many kids use ebay. Now think of how many get friends, relatives, etc. to leave great, fantastic, good feedbacks. How many people do not even want to be bothered with a bad feedback.

I don't leave feedback any more for the sellers I buy from and the people who buy from me. Since ebay changed their feedback policy they have rendered construct feedback obsolete. Sellers cannot under most circumstances leave negative feedback. The only instance that comes close is filing a non paying bidder report for the buyer who does not pay for the item(s). So since buyers can only receive positive feedback feedback for buyers is useless. Sellers can't get negative feedback unless the buyer goes through the proper procedure to do so and the vast majority of buyers would rather not go through the trouble so bad sellers don't get the poor marks they deserve so buyer cannot gauge a seller by their feedback. I have had sellers practically beg me to give them positive feedback and I don't cater to beggars. Ed ANA LM-3175

Well, the seller has really done nothing wrong from a technical standpoint. A buyer won an item, the seller sent the item and it was exactly as described and pictured. It really wouldn't be fair to leave negative feedback unless there was a piece of wood between the end coins. LOL In principle, I agree with you. These "unsearched" scammers have been selling on ebay for years and making big money off junk. There's been many posted here that clearly bought their tools of deception ON ebay (i.e. old bank wraps and tools to make shotgun rolls) and then proceeded to list "unsearched" rolls.....and buyers bought them. I blame the buyers for being ignorant. As they say about a "fool and their money...".

with BadThad. And ebay is in it for the money so they're not anxious to shut a seller down. Too bad.

If you don't want to buy it, then don't. Nobody forces people to buy these rolls. I know they are junk, therefore I do not buy. Some people buy just for the kicks.
To each their own I guess.

Even Chinese counterfeiters that purport to sell coins with "COPY" stamped on them don't seem to ever get negative feedback after the coins get delivered and are not as advertised. They should rename ebay to caveatemptor.com.

I agree with BadThad....and don't forget that the buyers are just as bad as the sellers in this case...I really think they deserve each other.

I have never had to leave negative feedback. I have left two neutral ones though. This is how I look at it, Positive - happy with it, maybe had problem but seller corrected quickly Neutral - a small problem came up but not that severe or not worth sending back Negative - felt like I was ripped off but not bad enough to get ebay involved ebay Protection - Seller is the scum of the earth

Even from a buyers perspective ebay's jumped the shark. (Sorry had to use it) I've had a rough time clearing my name in false automated unpaid complaints. Where I pay at the store for the item. And even when proving a listing was a scam, they wanted me to pay for it then contact them if the item doesn't arrive. LOL After the seller had 0 feed back, two of the three people pushing the price up had 0 feed back, I was the third. and then he wouldn't let me pick it up. Even at a public location. When I tried to get his contact info, he said when the item gets to you it'll have my information on it. When I used ebay's contact all his information went to dead ends. It was a BMX bike that my 12 year old couldn't control his normal habits and finally used my account to bid on something. Good thing he had to ask me for the money. And yes he learned a lesson!
