I have some coins I need to sell asap. I was given them years ago and they have been sitting in a box collecting dust since then. I'd rather keep them but my mother is ill so I have taken on her bills as well as my own and there just isn't enough cash to go around.

None of them are certified, but I have taken them to 3 different coin shops in the area and they told me that I should get the penny certified because it is the real deal, but I just dont have the time for that.

So I am wondering where I can sell these? Thanks.

Unfortunately that is one of the problems with trying to sell any item fast. You become at the mercy of many people that are not in hurry. Such as the coin shops you go to but in an emergency, probably the best thing for now.
As noted to sell here you need 250 posts and you really don't sound like you are going to do that soon. ebay or almost any internet system is a just Maybe. You might sell them and might not. You may get some decent money for them and possibly not. If you knew of any coin shows in your area, those would be a good place to try selling them but again, it would take time to find them, if any.
Again, unfortuately a coin store is about the best for an emergency but more than likely you'll may not get the best deal.

I have a 1969s doubled die obverse penny...

Unfortunately, you are almost certainly incorrect and have misattributed a coin with common Machine Doubling. The 1969-S DDO is a $100,000 coin with very few known examples. I could not even tell you how many dozens of people have posted here in the past 5+ years thinking they had one when it always turns out to be Machine Doubling. The cents of the late 1960s were plagued with MD but a genuine 1969-S DDO must look exactly like this one-

If you still think it looks like that one, please post some pictures so we can check it out

Other problems with ebay:

1) buyers are less likely to bid on coins from a new seller
2) there are tricks to selling on ebay, mostly learned by trial and error. It's a skill that can result in 20-200% higher bids
3) PayEnemy is now holding funds on new sellers or those who suddenly increase sales

Would you share some of the tricks? Aboveboard or trickery?

Sellign them on here is sometimes very slow. I would suggest ebay but if you have the coins that are the real deal you might want to post some pictures on here. You might just find a buyer for everything right here

With only 1 post it's going to be difficult to sell here. But he still can post pictures and get ideas on what coins he has and gain some knowledge about them. You have to start somewhere and for coins this is a very informative forum.

And that is the real problem. TIME. As you mentioned you need the money now. It would take time to acquire 250 posts here. ebay and/or other web sties are uncertainties. And with those too, it may take a lot of time. Looing for a coin show in your area too, would be a good choice but if none, again, time is not on your side. You may want to try any local coin clubs.
Although not the best place but a coin store could end up being your ONLY place for a fast sale.
Rest in Peace

Aboveboard is best, because then your competitors can't get your listing pulled.

Having decent images is one that should be obvious, but how many Clewless Gnubees™ have you seen trying to sell coins using a pix that could be anything from an IHC to a Martian sunset?

Using a slightly larger typeface in a clean font helps. It's nice to have young collectors, but old phartz whose vision ain't what it used to be are the ones with money to spend.

Can you read this easier? Or like this? Or this nonsense?

So let me get this straight, you have a $100,000 coin, but you don't have time to get it certified. $100,000 is what I make in about two years. I don't know how much you make but if you don't have the time to certify a 100 grand coin so you can sell it for market value I am not sure what to tell you. Really just step back for a moment and think about how that sounds to the rest of us.

To add to what Allranger said, usually the way you submit a coin for grading is to do it through a coin shop. Not sure why they didn't offer to help you with it. By the way, if the guys at the coin shop are saying it is real, have them put their money where their mouth is and see what kind of offer they will make you BEFORE getting that penny slabbed.

Edit: Shoot! Didn't realize this was a two month old thread that has risen from the dead.
