I just ordered three, well, one will be for myself anyway... I've lost interest since the first one.

Anywho, I tried the Promo Code "Mint1" for the free lettermail shipping, and got a red reply at the top of the page saying that that Promo Code was invalid. OH NOS THEY'RE ON TO ME!

Then I tried "mint1"... and free shipping it is! Thanks Canadian-Banknotes . Close enough counts for me. And did anyone notice I used "that that" in a grammattically(?) correct way.

Just received my three today. They were all inside one folder as shown earlier in the thread. The folder itself was bent around the edges from shipping and all three of the plastic sleeves that hold the encapsulated coins were broken at the bottom.

The coins and their round plastic holders were free from any damage though.

Very pleased with the coin's design and finish.

I just tried to order one for my mother-in-law (I got her one last year) and it won't take the 'mint1' coupon code for free shipping. I'll try again later...

Try "Mint1". When I did it, it was "Mint1". Capital "M".

I did manage to get it... it was "mint1" with a small 'M' for me... there must have just been some problem with their site when I was trying.

Thanks for the code Canadian-Banknotes!

Well after reviewing the pertinant laws it appears that the coin is legal tender but with the restriction of only a maximum of one coin per payment. Thus if one had a debt of $40 to the canadian government and one tried to pay with two of these coins they could legally refuse the payment. But if one paid with one coin and a twenty dollar bill they would be forced to accept it. Rather interesting indeed. In the US all coins created by the US mint since its founding are legal tender. The only coins that are not legal tendar in the US are a couple of issues that were never released (thus never monetized), but illictly removed from the mints (1974-1975 aluminum cents and with one exception the 1933 double eagle). Theoretically someone could pay the US government their taxes with $100 platinum eagles if that was all they had to pay with.

That's beautiful!

Please excuse me if I'm getting off topic but I really need to ask:

Those holders... I can't find them anywhere. I always find plastic coin holders that fit the size of the coin but never holders of a standard size with rings that cushion the coin. Are they better or worse? They look rough.

Got mine in today. The coin itself is virtually flawless. It must be the best finish of all the coins I own.

As for the design. It is probably up there in my mental top list. I like how the modern canoe is embossed, but the vintage canoe is debossed.
