That's what this, its definition of "market grading," translates to: A numerical grade that matches the grade at which a particular coin generally is traded in the marketplace. hesgut Pillar of the Community 1028 Posts	Posted 09/25/2011 9:34 pm I'm just not sure that IS wear on the breast, I think it's the strike. This coin has better eye appeal than the one pictured MS-62. I still say MS-63. If it is technically determined to be wear and must therefore not be an MS coin, it's an AU-58. Saying it's XF or even AU-50 is extremely harsh. There's no doubt there is very little wear if any at all, so it's an AU, after that we're looking more at luster of which there is all of it, thus AU-58. Report this Post to the Staff

Chancellor Sutler: The coin is very evenly toned, a little darker than it shows in the picture. The light was from the top so the bottom of the coin appears darker in the picture but isn't in real life. D0ubl3Eagle, hesgut: I don't really know what the luster should look like on a brown coin like this so I can't comment except to say I didn't notice the luster. I bought this as an XF, and it seemed like it was fairly graded (because of the breast issue), however, after looking at photograde some more http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/#/Flying/Grades I do see that there should be wear on the top wing tip, even in the high AU grades, so maybe there is something to that. hesgut Pillar of the Community 1028 Posts	Posted 09/25/2011 10:17 pm First off, there is no doubt in my mind that if you bought this at an XF greysheet price, you got a great deal. As far as luster, I guess you could call it original surface. Maybe the picture is deceiving, but I think this coin might even have a slight cartwheel effect left. Once you establish it deserves AU credibility, the difference (by definition) isn't wear, it's luster or distracting remarks or problems...so saying it has more wear than your AU-53 wouldn't even guarantee a lower grade. All that being said, I still think this coin would actually grade MS-63 at PCGS or NGC or ANACS. It might be an AU-58 though Report this Post to the Staff
