Ok I just looked on pcgs website and found these to be the "most valuable" pennies on their price guide (excluding the obvious) so I know what I need to keep an eye out for here's a list of what I have came up with so far, let me know if there is more that need to be added as far as pennies go. 1909-S VDB 1914-D 1917 DDO1922-D 1922-D (WEAK) 1922 1924-D 1936 DDO1941 DDO1943 1943-D 1943-D/D 1943-S 1944-D/S 1955 DDO1959 1960 SMALL DATE 1960-D/D SMALL DATE 1960-D/D LARGE DATE 1969-S DDO1970-S SMALL DATE 1970-S LARGE DATE DD0 1972 DDO1983 DDO1984 DDO1992 Close AM1992-D Close AM1995 DDO1998 Wide AM1998-D 1999 Wide AM2000 2000 Wide AM2000-D 2004-D 2010-D 2010 1983-2008-S If there is any other that you think that I have missed on here let me know as far as pennies that are hard to find and may be worth alot to collectors, I'm new to all of this and just trying to learn what to look for that is not common to find out there! Thanks!

That is a pretty good list, but I don't think anything after '58 except the '60 and '70-S small date are worth keeping, except for errors such as the DDO / DDRs, OMMs, and Wide AMs. They do not carry much value right now, but all 4 of the 2009 designs will probably go up in value on account of their excessively low mintages. They are uncommon in circulation regardless of condition, and the few that have slipped out have worn badly.

First thing is to not call them "pennies" they are cents. Welcome to the forum!

If you were inclined to look through rolls from the bank, you should try to assemble a complete set of Memorial Cents (1959-2008) in the best condition possible. Nice, brilliant uncirulated cents from the 1960s-70s are not easy to locate, especially 1976-1978, and are undervalued now, but might not be 20-30 years from now.

I don't think the 2010's are worth much of anything. You may have seen some old posts (including on this forum) of people in early 2010 obsessing over them because of the new design and because it took the mint unusually long to get them into circulation. So there was a small window in early to mid 2010 where people were selling them for ridiculous prices to people that didn't have the patience to wait 6 months for them to become commonplace.

In addition, look for Choice BUs of zinc Lincolns (post '82) as these do not hold up well in circulation and will hold a premium in the future. Your best bet is to start bank roll searching and enjoy the hunt! Les

@tokenmast well since you just had to ask I'm gonna tell you that what isn't listed up there would have to be pretty common, and the obvious CENTS that we all want to have or already have me personally I want to have every year and mint mark made, that would be one heck of a cent collection! I'm pretty new at all of this and still learning, so take my original post for what its worth :)

i just wanted to make a list that was pretty much plain for me to know when I'm trying to collect the years for me ,1959-present, that I need to double check for these different varieties in the cents that I have just so nothing slips past me. And wanted others input on cents that you may wanna look out for as well.

Any of the coins you listed pre 1959 will never turn up in rolls. I also have done lincoln rolls for a bit and have never found a single 72DD, 83DD, 84 doubled ear, 95 DD etc. I have found 60 and 60-D SD but thats it. You probably can still put together an entire AU/BU Memorial cent collection with enough searching though....or buy it for like $25. Oh, you can find repunched D mint marks on various dates, but those "errors" are kinda silly and worth very little.

I beg to differ on the "pre 59" comment. I have found a very nice 1909VDB and a 1943 steel from rolls. They are out there, it is just a matter of volume.

To get really technical and anal, he didn't actually list a 09VDB. I'm just kidding. I do think out of those, the 43-P is the "most likely" to be found, but I've never found one. I find generic wheats from time to time, but they always 40's and 50's with your occasional 1937 or something. I guess you never know, I still remember reading on here somewhere about a guy who found a gold coin in a nickel roll, but the coins he listed can at least be said to be "highly" unlikely to turn up in a roll

haha I would consider the 09 VDB to be a no-brainer for collectors lol and I hope to find one someday, I dont wanna "cheat" and go out and buy all of these cents, I wanna find them in circulation, I think its more exciting to find them that way! I just havent been able to go through alot of coins to find the good stuff yet! And I understand that its possible I never will and thats ok with me but cant find what youre looking for if you dont try!
