I just bought this out of Chino Hills, Ca for 13 dollars and change. Sure, it's green. But this could be a good test for verdi-care. The one I bought out of Nova Scotia this morning looks right ... and I think this one does too. The mint mark is not bold, but it is there. You may have to use the control key and hit + ... and every time you do that, it increases the size of the image by 25%. Chance Edited by Chancellor Sutler 09/27/2011 11:58 pm

Here .... Let me help. Here's the area below the wreath at 400 percent enlargement. I added the arrows to make it easier on your eyes. It's buried in verdigris, but I'm 100 percent certain it's there. Chance and a little more contrast ...

What? That's supposed to be it. The 'S' on indians is pretty big and pretty bold. I'm just not seeing it. Maybe I'll have to wait until after the verdi-care

That looks like an S too me! I'd have to see it in hand to be 100% sure, but I think you made a great buy!

Click on the picture to make it open in a seperate window, and hold the control key, and hit the plus (+) key a few times. My browser is set at 150 percent by default ... because my eyes suck.

I hope it is! The S's I have seen are a little wider. Looks like there are loops there. Clean it up!

I can barely make out your mintmark. Here's a damaged one but the mintmark is easy to see. And another in much better condition. I don't know why yours should be so hard to spot.

Hmm...I think the anomaly you're pointing to is too small for an "S" mintmark. I see someone has posted some S marks, here's my picture:

The example I just posted is in much lesser condition. It's probably a G-6 with corrosion. The mint mark wears right along with the rest of the coin. Here's the entire reverse. Chance

Yeah...I'm sorta of the opinion the mintmark is usually obvious--not sure in this case.

But ... If it were obvious, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Chance, even your coin, with the verdigris and corrosion issues, the S should be prominent enough to see. What you pointed out is to thin and small. You could confirm for sure with any 10X loupe.

Stay tuned. This should be an interesting week.
It's a shame that it's green, but again ... if it weren't, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
I appreciate the skepticism. I'm confident on this one. Chino Hills , Ca seems a perfectly logical place to find one.

Chino Hills is about 15 miles from me. Is this a coin shop?
