I just bought a 1854 Half Dime for my Dansco 7070 off ebay. I'm very happy with it and it is in EF (maybe AU?) condition. What wasn't clear in the photos (because the seller may not have realized it) is that it has a rotated die. I'm not too knowledgeable about error coins, especially old ones. Does this add any value to the coin? I'm not sure how common this was in these coins.

I don't have a camera that can take a decent picture of this coin (I'm in the market for a better camera), and even the seller didn't have the greatest pics in the world. So I can't really show the rotation. But when looking at the obverse in proper orientation the reverse is rotated about 45 degrees counterclockwise off of its proper upside down orientation.

If anyone knows much about die rotations in Half Dimes, or mid 1800's coins in general I'd love to hear it. Here's a link to the auction:

Thanks!

Rotated dies are more common on older coins. They probably won't carry much of a premium unless they're over 90 degrees.

Yup, no premium for less than 90 degrees.
