I'm 99% sure I'm keeping this one to my collection.. Hoping to hear your thoughts on grade and any issues on authenticity before I seal the deal.

Looks like there are some small rim nicks and the coin may have had an old cleaning. As for authenticity, nothing strikes me that says it is not real but still I would be cautious. The coin looks to be about AU-50.

My thoughts are EF40.

Mainly because of the wear on her chest and LIBERTY.

I'll give her an EF-40... The obverse has had a harder life than the reverse (doesn't that always happen). Really attractive old gal though!

EF45, I would value it closer to the EF40 level to account for the rim dings. Get that bad boy in an album and they will be hardly noticeable

EF-45 and I don't see any cleaning problems. The traces of luster lurking in the recesses (on Liberty's face and drapery and the eagle feathers) have the look of originality IMO. The small ticks and abrasions in the fields look like circulation artifacts rather than anything caused by cleaning.

The several rim hits and the dig by star #13 are defects that should hurt the value slightly. However, overall the coin has very nice eye appeal. You could do a lot worse!

It looks authentic but if it were mine I'd invest the $30 or so necessary to send it to ANACS. That way you would be sure and that certainty is well worth the certification cost. You can always break it out afterwards to put in your album. Remember to save the slab label so you can prove it's authentic if you ever want to sell.

VF35/EF40...the obverse detail is very lacking for any AU grade....

Keep in mind that the shields (and the obverses) on these are struck differently than on other Seated coins.
