+1 Silver, I like it too. And It's not as much of a roller coaster as gold is.. Just my 2 cents.

I think it would be easier to sell off part of a monster box if you need some cash

Ten oz. of gold is where I would go, as the volatile nature of silver turns my stomach, and I am too small to deal with it....
Of course, if I could afford either, that would change my mind set, like five oz. of gold and a half a box of silver, lol....

I have just been looking at pulling the trigger on one or the other for a while now. The one thing that kills me right now is that the dealer premium over spot on silver right now is about ten percent where gold is less than three. So just based on that alone gold is the better deal. I am pulling my hair out trying to choose and I worry that me being selfish about the dealer premium will make me choose poorly.

Silver because the gold/silver ratio is so high.
As noted by others, it is easier to divide if you need to sell some but not all of it.

I had the same dilemma and went with the monster box. I don't believe silver will get much lower then it is right now. Shop your order around, you should be able to get a monster box for $1.50 per coin over spot, or just split the funds between the two.

Where were you able to get them at $1.50 over spot? The best I can find is $3.49.

I have a dealer I know personally, but if I were you I would contact a few wholesalers and see what they can do for you. A lot of the guys selling on ebay have contact info on there to contact them directly. I wish I had more cash because I can buy as many Peace dollars as I want for spot plus shipping, unfortunately I am cash poor.

ASE's perhaps. Easier to sell in a more adjustable amount later on, but silver has more of a storage problem in those volumes.
10z. of gold is certainly a major purchase for most people, so the equivalent value of silver you intend to buy is is too.
May be slightly the wrong strategy. Split an intended large purchase into smaller dollar costed average amounts, and buy (or sell) more accurately on market price levels according to your judgement.
You just need to keep a continuous daily watch on the silver and gold markets. That observation effort is justified considering the volumes of PM's you are trading.

You can put a few 10 oz bars in a SDB, for example, but only a small part of that monster box worth of ASE tubes will fit in most SDBs. If storage is not a problem, I would go with the more divisible silver. On the other hand, one could buy a tube of 40 1/4 oz. AGEs and get some divisibility that way too.

How is that even possible O.O The mint charges dealers spot plus $2 for ASE

Quote: How is that even possible O.O The mint charges dealers spot plus $2 for ASE Take a look at Tulving.com. I checked today & opened boxes of ASE's were $1.60 over spot....sealed boxes of 2011's were $2 over spot. Canadian Maple Leaves were $1.30 over spot. It's been a while but I have dealt with Tulving in the past. He's not the most user friendly but prices are right if you can meet the minimum purchase requirements.
