I have a chance to purchase a NGC hard box with 17 slabbed modern coins.

I have been slowly putting away slabbed proof nickels, when I find them at a good price, there are 5 nickels in this group. I also like State and ATB Quarters.

Just curious what others would offer.

I'm not a slab guy so I'm no help with pricing...but, make sure to check that 1999-S LMC for the Close AM variety!

I was thinking the same thing. That I was not interested in most of these slabs.
But there has to be a price where it would be interesting.

I am thinking something like $4 or $5 each ...maybe cheaper for the whole group?

17 slabs of (IMO) common stuff? I am a type collector (I only need one of each major type, not the series)$5.00 each initial offer. $5.88 max ($100.00 for the batch postpaid) Modern day proofs are just about all upper tier PF-67 and better. Modern day UNCs are usually MS-65 and better. I don't see anything here that just screams at me "take me home"! I agree with looking closely at the NGC 1999 S PF 69 RD ULTRA CAMEO Lincoln Cent for a variety version.

The "Brilliant Uncirculated" slabs are worth exactly one dollar each, though I guess somebody on ebay would pay more.

I understand that most of these coins are not anythjing special, for me I am not sure
why some were sent in to be slabbed.

I do think there is a price where a coin is a good price, even if you don't want them.
I was thinking what should I offer and feel I did good. So I offered $3.00 each and the
guy seemed very happy with that, I think I could have went $2.50.

17 slabbed coins for $52.00 in a NGC hard box seems like a pretty good deal.

I will have to check out the 1999 S Lincoln.

They do it for the PF-70 and MS-70 grade coins. They submit them in bulk and hope that a few come back as 70's and cover the loss on the others.

I think I'd base my decision on eye appeal of the coins and whether you think some of them may star out later with toning. I think you have to be realistic and know that the TPGS are coming up with all of these novelty slabs to get novice collectors to buy them. One hundred years from now there will be tons of these perfectly preserved coins so the will never become rare.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of PCGS proofs at 69 that have imperfections that are visible to the naked eye... so even that nearly perfect designator to me isn't all that impressive in proofs.

I'd go $100 for the lot if I wanted it.

I wouldn't pay $100, but I think you did good at $52! Planning to resell them on ebay or something right?

Nice going. Still if it was me I'd resell them all on ebay.
Never could understand why people send in coins like that but as already noted, possibly in hopes of an MS-70 grade. At coin shows I see coins worth $1 in slab and selling for $1 too.

Made a effort to take some pics. I know I am not good at taking pics of slabs.

What I did like about these slabs is, they are in good shape, not scratched up.

I tried to get some close of the 1999S Lincoln, I would know which "AM" is which.

I think you did GREAT ! .....
Lots of nice keepers here
And I think there is and will be a value to these in the future, whether you keep OR sell someday.....lot's of new Ultra Modern collectors out there ! ....

Buy the best coin that you can afford at the time is a rule I "try" to live by.....if the going rate is $1.00 or $5.00, doesn't matter, it is what it is.....you aren't going to find anything "above" or "better" than slabbed 69's and 70's so......if it's what you collect...ya gotta have the best right ? .....
NICE PICS !
Nickels are sharp too ! (these make the whole lot already worth it for ya probably !) .....
