I went to a coin show today nearby here. I was disappointed that no one had errors or die varieties for sale. So I decided to look for my own and heres what I found. A 1974 Proof dime with a Cud on the reverse. Being a proof coin and all I thought this would be alot more rarer than being on a regular dime. Well here it is.

Nice Cud, a but it's not a proof - no "S" mint mark. It's a Philadelphia business strike - a regular dime.

Definitely not a proof and I am not even sure that is a Cud, it appears to be rather rough and irregular like something is adhered to the surface. Can you get a closer picture outside of the 2x2?

My bad its a coin that was polished . Then ontop of that I thought they only started S mint proofs in 1975 for dimes . The only thing right is its a Cud with a value of 10 cents due to being polished. Win some lose some.

The best thing to do is to look at the coins yourself. bring a jewelers loupe. I can spend all day at a coin shop, and you never know what you'll find.

it doesn't look like any Cud I've ever seen. looks more like an amorphous blob.

Yeah the coin is a Cud but because it was polished it looked smoothed out a bit. I just didnt have any Cuds for dimes yet so I guess I wanted this one. In all honesty I should of stayed away from this dealer altogether. He labled this coin as a proof coin thats why I thought it was a proof. I made a mistake by not closely observing the coin first. I bought this coin just before I left the coin show. I usually dont buy at coin shows but sell. Unfortunately not one person there buys errors or die varieties. The only die varieties they were interested in was the 1955 DDO and 1972 DDO Cents. What made it more sad they didnt even here of a 1983 DDR or 1995 DDO. Coin shows and coin appraisers in my area are a joke. Theres more money to be made off of errors and die varieties than semi rare coins. No one had any really rare coins there just mostly gold and silver. Then ontop of that no one was selling coins any newer than 1960 Cents. But quarters they were selling all the way upto the State Quarters. None of them had quarters after the states. Well thats my rant for the day.
