I see that the ASE 2012-W Proofs are sold out. I also see that the ASE 2012-W burnished uncirculated are still available. iof my info is correct, the proofs have a 800,000 mintage and the burnished-W mintage is only about 165,000. Is the burnished-W one to get now? How does the 165,000 mintage for the burnished-W compare to other ASEs? Kinda new to all this and really like the ASEs!

I wouldn't be too confident on the Burnished mintage figures. They were selling 2011 w ASE's well into 2012 and may still be available today.

Many posts in previous threads here have said one thing in different ways. That one thing (as best as I can reword it) is --

If you want to go with coins of numismatic value then do it and if you want to go with bullion, then do that. However, beware of trying to attribute future numismatic value to bullion coins. That's an iffy proposition and it rarely works well. Numismatic is numismatic and bullion is bullion. Trying to combine the two into one doesn't usually work well.

To all who've said this before - apologia mia if I didn't do your previous statements justice.

On the ASE mintage #s -- All the #s can be found in Wikipedia under "American Silver Eagle."

The uncirculated or W silver eagles generally sell for higher in the future with the smaller supply than the proofs at a lot of places. The proofs are the more popular ones right off the bat but the uncirc are harder to find when the mint ends the sales. The bullion version of the ASEs are exactly that and are worth melt.
