Looks like it has been whizzed by a buffer or something. Wide 0/0 I don't think the 1 is doubled looks more like accumulations or something I can't say for sure. It was a very high grade before it was cleaned MS60ish judging solely on the obverse uncleaned BV 1200+ according to my edition.

Does not look whizzed not polished or cleaned to me.
But, what do I know?
I think the 0 is MD and the 1? who knows? could be another digit under it?

Those lines you can see on the obverse are very typical on silver that has been buffed. I see it all the time when I buy large scrap silver lots. The OP stated that it has been cleaned which was my first clue to look for signs of cleaning. Buffing wheels use a special wax that removes the upper layer of the metal which leaves micro scars that look a lot like what I see in the pictures. Again I am only assuming but it is what it looks like to me.

Fantastic harsh cleaned coin-----best I've ever seen. There must have been a ugly blemish in the field.

I looked at all the varieties----and picked coin 21, page 390 Obverse---no Die Deterioration of I or A of GRATIA Reverse --Wide 187, even 7, narrow 0 ms60 $ 500 --- 2009 Most other varieties have low 7's or sloping 7's |

The 1 and 0 are the denomination numbers, not the numbers in the date.

Charlton lists 9 varieties for 1870.
None mention any denomination repunching ------sooo You have something special or it is only MD. That would explain the extra metal about the 1.

Looking again at the catalog-----it appears that quite a few varieties have been repunched ---these catalogs do not have enough definition. I will be looking for something better in future for high value variety items.

Has the coin been certified as cleaned?
I still do not believe that it is harshly cleaned.
