Quote: I'm guessing people prior to 1935 had bigger wallets! Even though it's been around 80 years since they made the bills, they still make the wallets. Ever see a tri-fold wallet? That size note is why they made them. Crease positions on the old notes bear this out.

Wow, those specimen notes would certainly look purdy in my album! => photos like those kinda put our private collections into "perspective", eh?! ... man, if only I could go back in time! "Hey stevex3, does anybody want these ol' specimen notes, or should I just toss them out?" "Ummm, ummmm, I don't think anybody is ever gonna have any use for those old scraps, Jimmy ... ummmm, but maybe I'll take them home for safe keeping, just in case?"

Stevex6....There is a stain on the top of the note and it may be rust. I know it is hard to grade from just a picture. My parents were both very active coin and banknote collectors all they life. They bought that banknote in the mid 1960's and has been in the family for almost 50 years now. I was a young boy when they bought that banknote and still remember the day they acquired it and what they paid for it. The note was given to me as a xmas gift from my father in 2004 as he was very old and distibuting some of his favorite pieces to family members prior to his passing. I remember they paid $60 for the note in the mid 60's, which was alot of money back then. Looks like it was a good purchase as it has appreciated greatly. It has become one of my prize pieces of my collection. I'm very impressed with the 4-4 dollar notes that you shared. They are very rare to find in any grade.

I have collected the banknotes when I find them. I have had some extraordinary deals though and that is what keeps me looking. Not trying to brag but just this past fall at my local coin club show, I scored 3 consecutive number, devil head $1's in CU for $2 each. I couldn't pay and exit fast enough. Thrills like that is what motivates me to keep looking.

Wonder if anyone can answer a quick question. Would a $10 bill WITH A SERIAL # 0161910 carry a premium or should I just spend it. The number is read the same upside down.
Thanks for your help

Well, I have a slightly shaky 1935 collection, but I am picking away at it ... The First Bank of Canada series => 1935 (Hot!) BC-1 and BC-2 (the $1 bills) BC-3 and BC-4 (the $2 bills) ENGLISH $2 FRENCH $2 BC-5 and BC-6 (the $5 bills) ENGLISH $5 FRENCH $5 BC-7 and BC-8 (the $10 bills) ENGLISH $10 FRENCH $10 BC-9 and BC-10 (the $20 bills) ENGLISH $20 FRENCH $20 ===> ahhhhhhh, I got nuthin'! ... need it! BC-11 and BC-12 (the $25 bills) ENGLISH $25 ===> ahhhhhhh, I got nuthin'! ... need it! FRENCH $25 ===> ahhhhhhh, I got nuthin'! ... need it! BC-13 and BC-14 (the $50 bills) ENGLISH $50 ===> ahhhhhhh, I got nuthin'! ... need it! FRENCH $50 (you've already seen it, but it's probably my favorite, so I'm posting it again!) ...... oh, and sadly I don't have any of those purdy 1935 $100 and $1000 notes that were psoted earlier! (too bad)

WOW.. What great looking notes, Steve, I was going to post some of my paper but, after seeing some of these I think I'll burn mine. I got one of those English $50.00, I would have thought you would have one of those.

WOW!, canuck1us => those $50 and $100 notes are absolutely gorgeous (far nicer than my bird-series examples!) ... Man, I totally love the bird-series! ... especially the snowy owl ($50) ... there is just something a bit cool, yet creepy about owls, yes? (I love Canadian paper-money) ... NOTE => hats-off to the Canadian Mint, for they really have/do print some of the prettiest paper-money that I've ever seen! Oh, and sorry => man, I must admit that the new Canadian "plastic" money is also sooooooooooooo cool, yes? Well done! => that'll do Canada ... that'll do

Wow, can never hope to get most of the previous notes shown. Got a 1923 shinplaster and a $1 from my grandfather many years ago (shinplaster was all folded in 4 in his wallet). I have notes that I got at face value from circulation, with some replacement notes and radars. Only better stuff would be some 1937 issues that I got at the bank back in the 70's (it paid to be nice to the tellers - kept them for me). 2x $1 BC21c & d, 2x $2 BC22c, 4x $10 BC24 b & c, and a $20 BC25a. Do you know how hard it is to keep these when you're making about $4-$5 an hour and have a wife and kid? Only other interesting note I have is a 1938 Dominion Bank $10, which I also got for face value. I'm wondering if these would have any value ?
