They're both noodling finds. I almost always use EFTPOS these days, so I don't get much pocket change.

The last big finds I had from pocket change were in 2009, when I found a 1972 5c and a 2000 $1/10c mule, but ever since then, I've struggled to find anything exciting. That's why I turned to noodling, because it was the only way I could reliably fill the gaps in my collection.

One thing I can't understand is why the mint deliberately releases low-mintage coins into circulation, when they know they haven't made enough to meet demand, and when they could have easily made the mintage much higher by reducing the overall mintage for the other competing designs.

What is the point of capping the coloured $2 coins at 1 or 2 million, when there are 24 million people in Australia, and 5-10 million people want at least one of each? The mintage of $2 coins over the last few years has consistently been over 30 million, so why couldn't they have made 5-10 million of each coloured release?

What is the point of minting only 1.1 million MoR $1 coins in 2014, and (presumably, based on current noodling stats) only 1 million ANZAC coins in 2015? Wouldn't it have been better to split the 2014 and 2015 $1 releases evenly between the ANZAC and MoR designs?

It looks to me as if the mint is deliberately trying to lock certain people out of the numismatic market, particularly children and people on low incomes. Many of these people will only ever encounter such coins if they find them in change, so why is the mint trying to make it as difficult as possible for them?

I mean, it's hard not to feel guilty about removing yet another coronation coin from circulation when there are so few left for those who still need one. I feel like the Grinch who stole Christmas, but how else am I supposed to complete my collection? Why can't the mint just make more of them so I don't feel guilty about keeping them?

The way I see it is the Mint is way too busy churning out Granny Bait that they can sell for crazy prices, such as this recent offering: https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2016-50.../310971.aspx

3 x 50c coins for just $45. A mere 30x face value! Talk about having a license to make money.

As long as there are gullible people who will buy this rubbish, don't expect anything to change.

Seriously, will people who are now adults buy these coins because they watched PS when they were kids?

Not something I would even consider!

The HMAS Sydney coin has also been doing the rounds where I live, along with the Melbourne Cup coin, two World War I coins from last year's Courier-Mail, and the 1991 $2. That's not to mention the lavish amount of NZ coins I've received, along with coins from Malaysia, Thailand, Croatia and Fiji. I also found an Australian sixpence recently, to add to the one I found earlier in the year. I don't know why people are so generous towards me, but I certainly appreciate it!

Picked up $48 in 5c pieces today and $100 in 50c.

Nothing good in the 50c however found another 1972 5c coin!!

Also found this off center 2000 5 cent piece.

Well done!
The miss strike is much harder to find than a 1972 5c.

Thanks Pedro and Ozcoins.

Favourite coin is the Wavy 2 I found, next would be this mis-strike. So excited when I found it.

Nice one! Have you checked to make sure it's not a collar error?
