You nearly doubled its value. Great decision!

I wonder why the place you bought it from didn't spot this, too bad for them and good for you. It pays to know your coins if that's the profession you choose! This is what makes coin collecting so fun. Now days I'm not too much into slabbed coins and usually bring a loupe and spend all day in a coin shop searching for varities and buy raw instead but these are stories I like to hear about.

This appears to be yet another example of buying the holder as opposed to the coin. IMHO, dealers can be no less guilty of making this blunder than are collectors. Many dealers simply view coins as commodities to be bought and sold; and in the process, fail to look under the hood. It's from such dealers that astute collectors can make their best buys.

This thread is a textbook example of the "buy the coin, not the holder" scenario. It serves to show us that even the top tier TPG's make errors in grading.

MS62 is a classic "market" grade for sliders. There must be some luster breaks that both ANACS and NGC saw or it would have graded 63 easily and probably 64. In this case (apparently) both ANACS and NGC got it right with NGC "market" grading it into a 62 slab because it is really nice.
